The importance of a strong cardio-respiratory system is undeniable, and not just for competitive athletes. The benefits of regularly doing endurance type exercise extend beyond being able to finish a race or reach your travel destination without being out of breath. For ANYONE wanting to look and feel better, but also improve health markers across the board, some type of "cardio" exercise needs to be part of the weekly routine.
However, most that are new to getting into running, rowing, biking, or swimming are just not sure how much (time/distance) to spend and how intense (speed/exertion) to go at it for. That's where we come in and provide that guidance, for both beginners and for veteran racers. Whether your goal is weight loss, a 5k PR finish time, or to just be able to chase down your kids or pets, we will figure out a regimen that fits your style, at a comfortable and safe level of progression.
Our lead expert, Kevin LaPlatney, is a professonal runner in the sport of Obstacle Course Racing, but only picked up his endurance routine when he decided to do his first event in 2010. Since then, he has studied endlessly to improve workouts for himself and his clients, and results have been the proof of that. Using his own knowledge and the lessons of the CrossFit Endurance program from expert Brian MacKenzie, he can show you how cardio isn't something to be scared of, and believe it or not can even be made FUN!
