Obstacle Course Race training

The last few years have produced a revolutionary fitness boom with the rise of "functional movement" proving to be both the most effective and fun form of exercise.  At the same time, Obstacle Course Racing (which includes Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, and dozens of others) has capitalized on this trend and become the fastest growing sport in the U.S., with over 2 million participants last year alone! Popular fitness programs such as CrossFit and many styles of group "bootcamp" workouts have shown to be well more than just a fad, and have even become the routine of choice for many athletes doing OCR, both by competitive "elites" and weekend warriors (no pun intended!) alike.

However, these programs are limited in the specific training needed to do your absolute best in these obstacle-heavy and endurance-based events, due to time and equipment constraints and of course, varying goals and structure of the gym's existing programs.

MUDMAN TRAINING focuses as much on physical conditioning as it does on the tasks you will face on the course itself.  Sessions are taught by Long Island's top OCR athlete, Kevin "Mudman" LaPlatney, who has competed in over 100 of these events going back to 2010, and has seen and done it all in this sport.  He takes his knowledge of competitive racing and combines it with his background in the fitness industry (several CrossFit certifications, and degrees in Exercise Science and Athletic Training) to give you the tips, tricks, and push you need to not just finish your race, but to crush it!!
